GENERAL INFORMATION

 
Where to find us:
  • Destiny Bay Resort is located in the southeastern corner of British Columbia, Canada
  • we are on the east shore of Kootenay Lake at 11935 Highway 3A
  • about a 40 minute drive north from Creston on Highway 3A
  • or about a 40 minute drive south from the Kootenay Bay ferry landing.
  • It takes about 2 hours to drive from Cranbrook or Nelson
  • 2 1/2 hours from Castlegar (follow Highway 3 to Salmo & Creston then North on Highway 3A)
  • 3 1/2 hours from Spokane, WA (take I-90 to Coeur d'Alene, follow I-95 towards Kingsgate but turn off on I-1 to Porthill)
  • 6 1/2 hours from Calgary, AB (head for Cranbrook either via Crowsnest Pass or Banff/Radium and follow Highway 3 to Creston)
  • or 10 to 12 hours from Vancouver (follow Highway 1/3 to Hope and then Highway 3 to Creston then North on Highway 3A)

  • If you wish, the nearest commercial air service and car rentals are available in:
  • Cranbrook, BC
  • Castlegar, BC
  • Spokane, WA
  • The nearest International Border Crossing with the United States is:
    Porthill, Idaho on US Route 1, and BC Highway 21 south of Creston, BC
    Golfing (some packages are available):
  • a 35 minute drive to Kokanee Springs 18 hole championship golf course (packages are available)
  • a 40 min to Riondel's 9 hole golf course, no pressure & fun
  • a 45 minute drive to Creston's 18 hole challenging golf course
  • Fishing (we can arrange for charters):
  • Kootenay Lake - home to Gerrard Giant Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Kokanee
  • Duck Lake - Largemouth Bass, Perch
  • Other Activities (too numerous to mention them all):
  • hiking or walking we have numerous easy and challenging trails nearby
  • road and mountain biking rated by some as the best anywhere
  • bird watching from the deck of your cottage 
  • visit the nearby wildlife management area with more than 265 species of nesting migrating birds
  • touring the Glass House (only 5 minutes away)
  • visiting the artisan shops and galleries throughout the area
  • following one of several circle tours
  • or just lie around, relax and do absolutely nothing...
